Evaluation Task 5 - How did you attract/address your audience?

This is our Final version of the film we made titled, "Time Won't Tell", I have added annotations using the YouTube onsite editing web application. I have commented the USP's, Genre Conventions, Music used and the Similarities between our film and others

Genre Conventions Comments
Unlike most films of the same genre as our film we have broke the conventions, these broken conventions include;

  • Budget
  • Dangerous Phyical Stunts
  • and destructive disasters
We have broken the budget convention by the conventions of an action film, by having a really small budget, involved in the film making compared to standard films of this genre such as Bourne Ultimatum, James Bond and Die Hard, which have budget rising into the many hundreds of millions of dollars to blow on awesome special effects, etc.
Secondly We don't have any dangerous physical stunts involved in the sequence because we don't have any professional stunts person to cover for the actors, unlike any of the general films which would employee specialists stunt people and co-ordinators to do the stunts, like jumping though a window two stories below from a balcony of another building or crashing and flipping a car at high speed.
There isn't any destructive disasters which include; Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Volcanoes, etc. The reason why these aren't include is because of Costs/Budget and Special Effects, the costs of making these would be enormous and we didn't have either the computing power or specialist software to create these special effects.

We have followed the conventions of this genre of film in the following ways;
  • High Tempo
  • High Energy
  • Allows for Audience Escapism
The Film is a of high tempo and energy, and due to this it'll have the audience members on the edge of their seats wanting to see more of the adrenaline pumping, fast pace action film, along with that we have used the music accordingly.
Our film allows the audience to discover escapism whilst watching it, the film is believable, enjoyable and watchable it makes the audience want to watch, due to the fact that for a hour or two the audience can watch a film which makes allows them to relax but at the same time enjoy it and have their heart beat faster than just sitting watching a tv show, because of the high octane fast pace fof the action film.

Evluation Task 4

This is Tom king who is 19 and lives in a small vilalge of Croft, in the leicestershire, he is a full tiem studnet who is studiying gegraphy, science. He is intrested in long distances runnig and weightlifting. he is a very active person who enkys physcial activity.

The type of filsm that Tom likes shooter, the dark knight, tghe Bourne trilogy he is interested in action thriller films becuase most of his favourite films fall into not that genre.Tom is laos intresrted in going to the cinema and is abig movie fan.

I htinks that Tom would like our film becuase it is sismalir to a lot of his favourte action thriller filmns such as the Bourne Triology which is his favourite triolgy films, it would also appeal to Tom becuase it ocntians high paced action simialr to the bouren films

Age rating of our film

Posted by Unknown on 11:05 in , , ,

We have decided to give our film opening a 15 rating becuase we feel that the genre of film will contian alot of violence, and from the oepning you can already see that it will cotiain violence the way that the assasisng is trying to blow up the other character.Alothe fact that we see him prepare his gun in the opening which indicates he is into violence.

Evaluation Task 3 - What Kind of Media Institutions might distribute your media product and why?

This our film with a directors commentary style voice over, I talk about What kind of Media Institution might distribute our media product and why, also I talk about the titles and the logo.

The commentary on the YouTube video is a lot better as I have edited most of the clips so they don't sound as bad, although they aren't great quality which I'm apologetic for, the reason why it's so bad is because I ended up using the microphone on my headphones to record, other wise the sound files wasn't audible as I tested.
I have ended up shortening my speech on the video as when I read all of the text I couldn't fit it all into the length of the short 2 mins 35, so as a result I have ended up shorten what I say.l

Analogue 35mm Prints to Digital format

Posted by Unknown on 12:45
We have found this website which is a company who offer to convert films from the analogue 35mm prints to digital, although it doesn’t actually tell you how they do it.
http://www.digitalcopycat.com/

We also found out that a website called eHow, which is a company who infomr their readers, how to do basically anything.
How to (a basic step by step)

1. A Telecine Machine (pictured)
2. Choose your definiton (HD or SD)
3. Insert 35mm reel
(note: if you plan on editing in high defintion or a higher standard, be aware that you will need a computer with alot of processing power, unlike standard definiton where you'll be able to use standard family freindly desktops or laptops.)
4. Watch footage atleast twice to check the filming is correct.
5. Choose file format
6. Convert Files

http://www.ehow.com/how_5928701_convert-35mm-film-digital.html

if you want to convert it yourself at home you will need these pieces of equipment;
•35mm film

•35mm film projector

•Projection surface

•Digital video camera

•Computer

•DVD burner

•Blank DVD

this task isn't particulary hard, although people with little or no computer skills might struggle as certain points in the conversion.

Post Production Sounds and Editing Styles

Posted by Unknown on 22:34 in ,
Sounds
We have decided to use two different sound clips on our final version of the film. The two clips are going to be applied to each individual actor in our film, so this means when ever the person is shown we will use the song which is linked to the actor such as the business man. We have used a slightly upbeat song for Rhys who is the business man and a more calm and relaxed song for the assassin who is played by Richard

Edtiting Styles
Our film editing has the main effect of Cross Cutting, this is where you are watching two characters go about their life, and we keep changing between each character, e.g. you are watching the assassin one shot and then we will switch to the life of the business man and then back agian, we decided to use fade in and outs as the transitions on most shots this because we wanted to show that we constantly switch between each character to allow the viewer to get to know the character and by using fades between each change of actor. Another reason why we used fades was because it helped the change of scene smoother, and helped it be believeable. I believe that how we have used these effects and not added any cheese and rubbish effects has really helped us to improve on our draft where we used some effects that make our look poor and amateur

(Contrast between character roles and theme of song such as evil assassin and calm music)

Final Actors - Richard Anderson

Posted by Unknown on 22:30 in ,
Richard Anderson is the second of our actors that we chose for our final filming, When we chose Richard to be the actor who plays the assassin, because he is more mature, when he had his leather coat and gloves on with his  cap, he looked similar to how you would expect an assassin to dress he didn't look to casual but didn't look to obvious that if you walked around a town, that he wouldn't stick out from the crowd, and that is what we wanted, we also knew that we wanted it for the viewer to know which character was which and with Richard wearing this type of clothing, I believe it did make it obvious.

Final Actors - Rhys Withers

Posted by Unknown on 22:06 in , ,
Rhys Withers is one of the two of our actors we chose for our final filming. He is 17 years old, lives in Narborough and enjoys playing sports which includes Football. Rhys is also interested and enjoys Computing, and as well as playing on his Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. He is planning on going to university to get a Degree in computer games programming, to get a job as a computer games programmer.

I believe that Rhys was the perfect actor for us to choose because he fitted what we both wanted of the actor, who  is a casual man who was on his way to work.

The person Rhys plays is a casual business man who is being targeted by an assassin, yet he isn't really aware of if (for sure) or when he's going to be killed.

We told Rhys to wear black shirt and trousers, along with his and black shoes which are shown below

Today's Target/Task to complete by end of lesson

Posted by Unknown on 12:18 in , , ,
My target is to complete putting all the shots into order, cut them and match them for continutity. By this I mean that I need to p ut my shots in order that we plan on them running in the Film Trailer on the timeline on iMovie, then I'm going to cut the shots to the parts that we want so that they match with each other, once this is done I am going to make sure that they fit so the continuity fits correctly

Final location for filming (office where assassin is based, Part 1)

Posted by Unknown on 21:09 in , , , , , ,

These four Pictures are of an office which we have decided to film our final filming, We chose this place because it fits what we were looking for, I believe that the room was the best option, because of the the fixtures and features of the room, e.g. the pictures, statues, etc. I believe that these fittings in the office fitted into the assassins personality and helped the viewers to understand and relate to him more easily even though he is a cold blooded killer as his career

This is the trailer for “Cool Runnings”, the trailer starts off with a medium shot of Irving Blitzen making a speech at a podium, where to the left of him is a film being played about the sport of Bobsledding, the editing between this shot and the next shot which shows you the screen and the film being played on it is an Cutaway, the next shot is back to Irv giving the same speech but further on in time, this is Continuity Editing, th

Possible Actors/Actresses for film (Part 3 'Richard')

Posted by Unknown on 21:53 in , , , ,
This is 'Richard', it doesn't matter which character he plays either the assassin or the person who is in the car, I think that he would fit into any role.of the assassin very well, because he has a calm, but likes to get a job done and to male sure its done properly, if anything isn't done to satisfaction he'll re do it or finish off the job.
and this is what assassins have to be like, because if they don't kill somebody, or if they are clumsy they might get caught.

The clothes that he cold be wearing are;

Another Idea for a name for our film

Posted by Unknown on 21:38 in , , , , , ,
Time Won't Tell - This is another title I came up with, I think this is the best so far because the whole of the opening 2 minutes of the film depends on time and based on timing, so I think that Time Won't Tell explains that timing in this film and the story is crucial to the plot.

These are lyrics from a song written by Linkin Park

"Don't turn your back on me I won't be ignored
Time won't tell
Don't turn your back on me I won't be ignored"

Possible Actors/Actresses for film (Part 2 'Darren')

Posted by Unknown on 19:09 in , , , ,
This is 'Darren King' he is a possible actor for our film, I think that he should be the person who is getting in the car/looking for the bomb. I believe this because I think that he'll fit into character better than being the assassin, although it doesn't really matter which character he plays, if we choose him because he will be good in both roles.
The type of clothes that he should wear are;

These are pictures of possible actors that I took a while ago I just forgot to upload them at the time, and have only just remembered to upload them.

This is my brother 'Alex' he is a possible actor for the scenes  which are inside, where the assassin is watching the his culprit about to be killed.
I believe that the clothes that he should wear are; a shirt, trousers, shoes, and a tie, such as the ones pictured.

Della Text Ideas

Posted by Unknown on 14:57 in ,
On the first page all the text should be different types, but for some reason they all appear the same so, I am going to try to fix this problem, but the second page is OK, but I don't think we should use this type of text because I don't think that it'll fit in with the type of film that we are making plus it's very hard to understand the words due to the type of font.

Pictures found online.

fire photography

I have found this whilst I was surfing the internet for media inspirations and it's strange because I cant quite explain why I like it so much but I thinks because it allows you to develop your own ideas about it, for example it looks like a woman with a wing facing forward, which could resemble something holy, like an angel, and the flames could resemble hell, but yet again it could just be an optical illusion that I'm seeing and they are just random shapes in the flames.
Although I have found it and I like it i'm not quite sure how it will help me for inspiration on my media coursework. I'll update this post later to comment on ideas about the picture.

Colours

Posted by Unknown on 09:33 in , , , ,
These images may not appear to be linked to colour and colour schemes, but I got the images from google images, the picture of Ezio Auditore de firenze from Assassins Creed II is on here because whilst I was playing Assassins Creed II, I saw his armour, and liked to colours and how they go together well, I decide that we should use similar if not the same colours on our film.
The other three images, have been chosen because I like them espically the middle two pictures.
